The Week of August 25th

This is a wonderful article for families who are interested in reading about incorporating practical life activities at home.

A PTA meeting is scheduled for Wednesday, August 28th, at 6pm in the Multi-Purpose Room (MPR). You can enter via the door on Battey St. Pizza will be provided and there will be raffle prize drawings for those who have joined the PTA.

The PTA is a vital part of our school community. Anyone (grandparents, community members, etc.) who wants to support our students, staff, and school is encouraged to join the PTA.

Membership must be renewed yearly at this link. It only costs $7 to join.

If you are interested in becoming the lead on a PTA committee, contact one of our PTA co-presidents Lacey Wyland (lswyland14@gmail.com) or Diana McGaw (dianagurley@gmail.com).

The Week of August 11th

The First Great Lesson
The community experienced Montessori's First Great Lesson on Friday!

Homework
Homework will begin this Tuesday. It will be in your child's take home folder every week on Tuesday. Traditionally, homework is not given in the Montessori community, but we are sending it so your child has the option to practice reading and math skills outside the classroom. We will not be collecting homework, but your child should bring in anything that you/they do not understand so we can help. Eventually, but not this week, all children will receive math fact practice (+ーx÷) and will be tested on their math facts weekly in school. Students should also be reading nightly!

Reading Logs
"100 Ways to Raise a Reader" reading logs will go home on Tuesday, as well. Your student should try to check off as many different ways to read as possible. Please email us pictures of your student reading and we will share them with the class and post them in the newsletter. In the past, children read recipes and made delicious food. Others listened to podcasts, made shopping lists, and read to their siblings and pets!

Field Day- This Friday!
Field Day will be on the back field at Charles Ellis and Circle Park this year. We are sad to say it will be smaller than previous years, so we do not need volunteers to assist with getting our kids to and from the park. We will be on the back playground from 8:30-9:10, Circle Park from 9:15-9:55, and the MPR from 10-10:30.

Parents and Guardians as Guests:
Circle Park:
Parents and Guardians are welcome to set up blankets, coolers, umbrellas, etc. around the perimeter of Circle Park.

Back Playground:
Due to limited space, parents and guardians are welcome to set up along the fences.

Spring Conferences will begin tomorrow. We are looking forward to meeting with you! If you haven't, please sign up by using the link provided in your email.
