Weekly Newsletter
We had a wonderful first week back at school! The students learned about our classroom expectations and procedures, and we’re already building a strong foundation for a successful year. It’s been a joy watching them settle into our routines with enthusiasm and curiosity.
We’re looking forward to a productive and exciting school year filled with growth, learning, and fun!
Homework
Homework will be sent home every Monday. Traditionally, homework is not given in the Montessori community, but we are sending it so your child has the option to practice abstract reading and math skills outside the classroom. We will not be collecting homework, but your child should bring in anything that you/they do not understand so we can help.
Your child should also read nightly. Reading at home each night is one of the most powerful ways to support your child’s learning and development. Just 15–20 minutes of daily reading helps build vocabulary, strengthen comprehension, and improve focus. It also nurtures a love for stories and learning that lasts a lifetime.
Whether your child is reading independently or enjoying a story with a family member, this time together makes a big difference. Thank you for helping us build strong, confident readers!
Work Logs
We will send home student work logs on Mondays. This is a log of the work students completed during the previous week. Children are expected to have conversations with their grownups about the work they've chosen and completed. Please sign and return the log every Tuesday.
Monday Explorations!
Students will attend Explorations classes every Monday! These classes include Technology and Gardening, P.E., Music, Art, Spanish, and Engineering—a wonderful opportunity for students to explore a variety of interests and skills.
Please make sure your child wears sneakers every Monday so they’re ready for P.E. and outdoor activities.
Labeling Personal Items
Please label water bottles and sweaters with your child's name. This will help keep them from ending up in the Lost and Found. Thank you!
Texting on Remind
When using the Remind app to communicate with teachers, please start a group text with Ms. Jazmin, Ms. Natalie and Ms. Marianne. This way, all three teachers will see the message and all of the follow up responses. Thank you!
Mat Washing
Each month, we ask one family to take home the classroom mats for a quick wash. If you sign up, please plan to bring the mats home on the date that you've signed up for, wash, fold, and return the mats by the following Monday morning so they’re ready for use. If your family would like to volunteer to take the mats home and wash them this school year please use this link to sign up.
Community Wish List
If you would like to donate to our classroom community, please find our wishlist here. The items on this list do not need to be purchased from Amazon. We made the list on Amazon because it is an easy way to create and maintain a wish list with pictures and prices. Thank you!
Submitting Absence Excuses
This year, families are asked to upload absence excuses directly in PowerSchool. You will find directions below.
Free School Lunch for the 2025-2026 School Year!
Starting in the 2025-26 School Year, all students will receive breakfast and lunch at no cost - no application necessary. Additionally, the School Nutrition Program will be completely cashless.
MySchoolBucks.com.
Families are encouraged to set up and manage their accounts to ensure students can continue to enjoy optional snack and beverage purchases with ease.
Kroger Gift Cards
We ask for that each family send in two $40 Kroger gift cards for each student for one school year. Families may decide that it is easier to donate one $40 gift card at the beginning of the school year, and another $40 gift card after the winter break, or $80 at the beginning. This amount gives each student, daily organic, and nutritious snack, while they are at school for under .50 cents per day! If your family is unable to donate at this time, please do not worry about sending in the card. There are some families that may be able to donate more than $80 per year in Kroger gift cards, and that is always greatly appreciated and welcomed as not all families may be able to donate.
