The Week of October 26th

  Weekly Newsletter

Community Ofrenda
This week, we will continue our special classroom tradition of creating an ofrenda to celebrate and honor our loved ones who have died. This is part of our learning about Día de los Muertos (Day of the Dead)—a beautiful tradition that helps us remember and celebrate the lives of those we love and miss.
Each day, students are invited to bring in a small item to contribute to our class ofrenda.
Here's our schedule:
Monday: Bring in photos of loved ones (family or pets).
Tuesday: Bring in marigolds or flowers.
Wednesday: Bring in their loved one’s favorite treat.
Thursday: Bring in or create something that was special to their loved one (a drawing, object, or symbol).
Friday: We will celebrate and reflect to honor the lives of those on our ofrenda.

All items will be treated with care and returned at the end of the week.

Observations and Conferences
We are so grateful to those who have taken the time to come in and observe our Montessori community. Your presence and engagement mean a great deal to us and to your children.

As a reminder, when observing:

  • Please arrive and leave on time to minimize disruptions.
  • Be sure to fill out the observation checklist provided.
  • Feel free to add any comments or questions you may have.

We are looking forward to continuing conferences this week to discuss each student’s progress. This will also be a great opportunity to address any questions you may have about your observations. Thank you for your continued support!

Montessori Professional Learning Fundraiser
You can use this link to donate!

As credentialed Montessori educators, we must complete 50 hours of professional development every five years to maintain our certification.

This year, several of us will attend:
• The American Montessori Society (AMS) Conference in Washington, D.C.
• The Montessori in the Public Sector (MPS) Conference in Milwaukee.

These conferences provide training from leading Montessori experts and opportunities to share best practices that directly benefit our classrooms and students.

The cost just in registration fees for 10 teachers will be close to $8,000. We are asking for half of that amount through this fundraiser to help make attendance possible.

Attending requires funds for registration, travel, lodging, and meals. Each year, teachers organize and run fundraisers to cover these costs. This GoFundMe is one of those efforts.

Your support will:
• Cover a portion of registration and travel costs
• Strengthen Montessori classrooms with new strategies and resources
• Support future professional development (any unused funds will roll over to next year)

By donating, you are directly supporting teachers and investing in students.

Thank you for helping us continue to provide high-quality Montessori education that nurtures curiosity, independence, and a love of learning. Any donation, big or small, makes a difference.

PACK Field Trip- October 21

For food-insecure children, leaving school on Fridays brings uncertainty about whether they’ll have a meal over the weekend. The PACK feeding program bridges the hunger gap for thousands of children, who sometimes experience anxiety and stress over weekends and holidays because the nutritional support they receive via school breakfast and lunch is no longer guaranteed. Up to seven meals could be missed between Friday and Monday. Hunger has a devastating effect on every area of a child’s life.

PACK provides 5,400 weekend meal bags to students at 42 schools and community centers each week. Our students will be packing food and writing cards for children experiencing food insecurity.
