A note about keyboarding practice from Ms. Angie:
Did you know that most employers expect their employees to touch type at 50 words per minute? I didn't either, but it is not surprising when you think about it. Our youngsters are not heading to the job market just yet - but - their day to day success in using technology for learning is impacted by their proficiency with the keyboard.

All students have a current Typing Club account which they use in Tech class weekly. When students log in to Typing Club with their Google Accounts, their progress is saved and they can continue from lesson to lesson.  It is recommended that students practice for 15 minutes each day to gain proficiency.
I've added information to the Explorations page on the school website for students to log in at home.

From home, students will use this link: https://charles-ellis3.typingclub.com

Students will need to use their school email address (firstname.lastname@students.sccpss.com) and their unique password.  Parents are welcome to email me with any questions.  angela.laplante@sccpss.com

Read-A-Thon-November 1-30th!!
Please help your child record their minutes daily! Any student who raises $100 or more will receive a $10 gift certificate to our Book Fair in December! If every student donated $5, we would be able to purchase these materials and more for our school! Thank you for your support!

Field Trip Friday
We have an out of county field trip on Friday. If you did not fill out the new field trip form and return, please do so tomorrow. If you would like to attend this field trip, please email by Thursday and we can send you driving directions, parking pass, and map.

New Learning Logs
Due to our first ever early dismissal on Friday, we forgot to send home learning logs. These will go home with your child on Monday. Please review your student's work completion and talk with them about their goals. Ideally, we would like to see each child setting the goal of 3 challenging math, reading, and language works, respectively, as well as, choosing cultural work each week.

Fall Conferences
Thank you to everyone who has signed up for a conference. If you haven't done so already, please follow the link below to choose a time that works for you. We want to discuss student goals, progress, and test scores with you.  We are looking forward to meeting with you!

Plant Swap at the Fall Festival
The PTA Health and Wellness Committee is bringing the plant swap event back to this year's Fall Festival! They will have some small pots available at the front entrance of the school on Oct 14th for you to take home to prepare your plant(s) for swapping. You can also bring your plants in whatever pots or planters you already have stashed in your garden supplies -- just no bags, loose, or unpotted items, please. Simply bring your ready-for-swapping plants to the Fall Festival on October 25th and trade them for something new.
