Benchmark Assessments
Students will take benchmark assessments when they return in January. It is important that they continue to practice the skills that they are working on in the classroom at home over the break. Please continue to have your children read nightly and use the the following web programs when possible. If you did not receive your child's login information for any of the websites, please email Ms. Jazmin and she will get them to you immediately. jazmin.corbell@sccpss.com

MobyMax and TenMarks Websites
Students should use the Moby Max website for reading comprehension practice. There is a test prep section as well, that we recommend for all students.
Ten Marks should be used for math practice at home. It is directly aligned to Eureka! Math, which  is the newly implemented district math curriculum.

XtraMath
XtraMath login information went home last week. Please have your students use XtraMath for five minutes of math fact fluency practice daily.

Festival of Lights
Students learned about the Mexican tradition of Las Posadas and made their own representations of poinsettias, pinatas, and luminaries. The turnout for this event was huge and the musical performance was heartwarming.

Classroom Snack-In the New Year
We hope you have found the new system for classroom snack to be helpful for you and your family by cutting down time spent rushing around for snack for the class on your assigned week, and also hoping you have found it to be more economical. We have seen an enormous amount of positive growth that this seemingly small change made. We are seeing that students are enthusiastic to eat their fruit and vegetable snacks without hesitation and we have seen their confidence soar because of their additional opportunities in practical life activities such as preparing the food, and also washing their dishes when they are through.

All of that being said, when we began this journey at the beginning of the school year, we were not certain what type of budget we needed to set, so we set a conservative budget of $20 per student for the year. We are seeing now that we need to request an additional $20 per student to make it through the school year. That ends up working out to $1.11 per student for 36 weeks of school, at $40 per student per year. We prefer Kroger gift cards as they tend to have the most economical organic options. If Publix is your store, of course we will accept those as well. We found that grocery store gift cards are the easiest for us to deal with, rather than worrying about cash.

Please send in gift cards by January 15. We thank you for your support in this endeavour. We also hope that you are seeing and feeling the benefits as much as we are as a community.

We appreciate everything you all do for our community!
