 Field Trip Permission Slips Due Monday!

We will go to PACK Tuesday. If you haven't, please return signed permission slips for our rescheduled field trip. We were originally scheduled to go in October, but the bus we arranged did not pick us up. Please sign and return the form as soon as possible. Thank you!

For food-insecure children, leaving school on Fridays brings uncertainty about whether they’ll have a meal over the weekend. The PACK feeding program bridges the hunger gap for thousands of children, who sometimes experience anxiety and stress over weekends and holidays because the nutritional support they receive via school breakfast and lunch is no longer guaranteed. Up to seven meals could be missed between Friday and Monday. Hunger has a devastating effect on every area of a child’s life.

PACK provides 5,400 weekend meal bags to students at 42 schools and community centers each week. Our students will be packing food and writing cards for children experiencing food insecurity.

Winter conferences continue this week! Please check your email for the conference sign‑up links sent by the teachers. If you haven’t had a chance to sign up yet, please do so. Thank you!

Remote Learning -This Friday

We will send work home with students this week for the remote learning day on Friday. Please look for an email from teachers with expectations and help your child complete the assigned work. Thank you!

Students will exchange valentines this Thursday! We have 47 students in the class. If your child needs supplies to make their container at home, please let us know and we will send home a box and decorations with them. Thank you!

Please plan to join us after school on February 12 for ice cream treats! We will be selling treats after school, on the front steps, to raise money for Montessori professional development.

We are so sorry that there was no newsletter last week. While I was out of town, I thought the district had only blocked access to Blogger temporarily, but it turned out the site was completely blocked. I submitted an IT request, and thankfully I’m now able to access and update our newsletter again. Thank you for your patience, and I’m hopeful that the access will remain consistent moving forward!

Winter Weather

In preparation for possible weather related school closures, we sent home choice boards for our 1st and 2nd year students and Chromebooks for our 3rd year students. We are hopeful that we will be back in school on Monday, however, if we are unable to return, please keep an eye out for an email from the teachers with work expectations and next steps. Thank you for your support and stay safe!

School Closed January 19 – Martin Luther King Jr. Day

On Monday, January 19th, our school will be closed in honor of Martin Luther King Jr. Day. This day gives us a special opportunity to reflect on Dr. King’s legacy of kindness, courage, and the belief that every person deserves fairness and respect.

In class, we have been learning about the ways Dr. King worked to make our country a better place by using peaceful actions and powerful words. We encourage families to take a moment together on this day to celebrate the values Dr. King stood for and look forward to welcoming students back Tuesday!

Musical Explorers Concert

We will be headed out to the Musical Explorers field trip on Friday. A free program, Musical Explorers builds basic music skills as students learn songs from different cultures and reflect on their own communities. In-person concerts allow students to “meet” the professional musicians that have guided them on their musical journeys through the Georgia Lowcountry and beyond!
