Water Bottles

We do not have drinking fountains that students can use at school. We only have bottle refilling stations. Please send in a water bottle with your child so they can drink water throughout the day.

Fall Conferences

We have enjoyed meeting and discussing classroom observations, academics, and grace and courtesy with families. If you have scheduled a conference, please make sure that you remember to attend! Tuesday conferences can be virtual or in person, please note your preference on the chart, and a link will be sent out to those who prefer Zoom.  Please use this link if you have not signed up yet. if you do not see a time or date that works for you, please contact us and we will make other arrangements.

Fall Conferences

As we wrap up fall family observations we are happy to begin fall conferences. We are looking forward to meeting and discussing classroom observations, academics, and grace and courtesy with families. Please sign up for a time that suits you. Tuesday conferences can be virtual or in person, please note your preference on the chart, and a link will be sent out to those that prefer Zoom.  The rest will be in person. The Learning Community

Weekly Math Fact Practice

Students will be tested weekly, beginning Tuesday, and will move through the operations at their own pace. These skills help kids advance when multidigit arithmetic, fractions, and long division enter the picture, allowing them to focus on more complex problem-solving instead of simple computation.

Our goal is to provide a loving, respectful, and supportive environment in which children will blossom. There are clipboards with observation checklists at the entrance of Room 29. Please take one and use it to help guide your observation. Upon entrance to the classroom, please quietly find the observation chair and have a seat. We ask that you stay seated in the observation chair and try not to engage the children in conversation. If a child asks who you are or what you’re doing in the class, a polite “Hello, I’m ____. I’m here to watch you and your friends work.” is appropriate. If you haven't done so already, please use this link to schedule a classroom observation. We look forward to seeing you!

International Day of Peace Celebration

Weekly Math Fact Practice

 A key part of early-grades math is ensuring students get the basic arithmetic functions down and, beyond that, making sure they’re able to swiftly and automatically recall addition, subtraction, and multiplication number facts. Math fact practice will begin this week! Children will bring home math fact practice along with their homework this Tuesday. Each child will practice their facts at home and will test on Tuesdays. Ellis Night at Panera!

PTA Meeting 

Due to Hurricane Idalia, the first PTA meeting of the new school year is rescheduled for Wednesday, September 6th, at 6:30pm in the Multi-purpose Room. Pizza will be provided by the PTA. If you have not yet joined PTA, please do so at this link. Only those who have joined the PTA are allowed to vote at the meetings. To learn more about the Ellis PTA, visit the PTA page on the Ellis website. 

iReady testing did not go as planned. Some students finished the math assessment, some students were unable to complete the assessment, and others were unable to log in. This week, students will take the reading portion on Tuesday, September 5th. We will finish the math portion on Wednesday, September 6th and makeups are scheduled for Thursday, September 7th. Fingers crossed that it all goes smoothly! Thank you to all the families who have sent in headphones! If you have not done so already, please send them in ASAP.

Our community at work.

This week, all students will be participating in iReady testing.  The Math portion of the assessment will be taken on Tuesday, August 29th.  The Reading will be on Wednesday, August 30th. Thank you to all the families who have sent in headphones! If you have not done so already, please send them in ASAP. Make Up testing will happen on Thursday, August 31st.  Please make sure that your child gets a good night's rest, a healthy breakfast, and arrives to school on time.

 

The children will have an e-Learning half day on Friday, September 1. Please look for an email with more information about the e-Learning half day this week.

Homework

Homework went home last Tuesday. Your child should take their homework out of their folder on Tuesday and return their empty folder to class Wednesday morning. We will not be collecting homework, but your child should bring in anything that you/they do not understand. All children will receive math fact practice (+ーx÷) and will be tested on their math facts weekly in school. Students should be reading nightly!
