UPCOMING EVENTS
Friday Field Trip
Students will be attending their second field trip of the year on Friday. Again, we will be walking, so please make sure your child is dressed appropriately for the weather. If sunscreen and bug spray are necessary, please apply them at home. There will not be a microwave available, so please keep that in mind when packing a lunch for your student.
Read-A-Thon
Our class is participating in the Charles Ellis Read-A-Thon, which began last Thursday and will conclude on November 16. Please help your student raise funds by getting friends and family to pledge and donate money that will be used to benefit the Media Center. We are in dire need of a new laminator in order to laminate all of the new Montessori materials that have been purchased for our classrooms. Thank you in advance for helping your student participate in the Read-A-Thon! Digital flyers went out on Thursday and copied flyers will go home on Monday.
Parent Education
Please join us on Wednesday at 5:30 for parent education. The Lower Elementary teachers will be presenting the First Great Lesson in Room 6 before the PTA Meeting.
Gardening
Our class has been working with Cassandra, the garden manager, who is provided through a grant from the Savannah Urban Garden Alliance. Our students were in the news this week in an article focused on the garden manager program. Please follow the link below to view the article.

A Visit from Melody!
Melody from Musical Explorers visited the children at Charles Ellis on Wednesday! We are really looking forward to the Musical Explorers concert in December! Field trip forms will be coming home soon.
Wool Felt Balls
The children have been loving the work with wool that Ms. Marissa is doing with them on Fridays! Thank you, Ms. Marissa!
Volunteering
Are you interested in working with our students this year? We could use your help with science experiments, reading with students, and doing art projects. If you have a special talent that you would like to share with our community, please send us an email and fill out an Operation Beacon volunteer form.
