UPCOMING EVENTS
Harvest Feast
Our students will prepare a feast in the classroom on Tuesday and Wednesday to be enjoyed on Thursday afternoon. They will be making stew, corn bread and pumpkins pie. If you signed up to donate to the feast, please send items to school with your child on Tuesday. Every year, the children love working hard to prepare the feast and enjoy sharing the fruits of their labor as a community. Please note, this feast is for students to commune with each other. There will be other events during the year when parents are invited to the classroom.
Election Day!
Our students took to the polls on Tuesday and voted on which continent would be studied next. Their voices were heard and we are now reading about Europe!
Friday Field Trip
Our field trip to the Massie Heritage Center was a huge success. Students learned more about Thomas Jefferson, James Oglethorpe, Tomochichi, and the lives of other natives indigenous to Georgia. 3rd year students made pinch pots using the same method that was used by Native Americans thousands of years ago.
Read-A-Thon
All Read-A-Thon recording logs and donations are due this Friday, November 16. The class who raises the most money will win their teacher a $50 gift certificate for the Book Fair! Any student who raises $100 will receive a $10 gift certificate for the Book Fair!
Volunteering
Are you interested in working with our students this year? We could use your help with science experiments, reading with students, and doing art projects. If you have a special talent that you would like to share with our community, please send us an email and fill out an Operation Beacon volunteer form.

Our students took to the polls on Tuesday and voted on which continent would be studied next. Their voices were heard and we are now reading about Europe!
The children used the data collected when counting the votes to create a bar graph and the results were interpreted with ease.
