Fall Conferences

Transparent Classroom

You may have noticed that Transparent Classroom is being used in a new way this year. We are using the record keeping tool to make quick observations during the day.The practice of observing students and taking notes helps us to record and reflect on what we're seeing, and then make changes based on the data collected. We are observing for just a few minutes during different times of the day, in order to get an accurate account of what's happening in the environment. 

Also, we have given the children due dates for cultural shelf work and projects, which are recorded on Transparent Classroom. Sometimes students are given cultural lessons and do not follow up on the work. We are hoping that by giving the children due dates and posting them in Transparent Classroom, that students will remember to work on cultural items and that it might encourage a family conversation about the work that is being completed in the classroom.    

New Learning Log

The image below is a copy of our new learning log. Students will be setting goals and filling in the work they intend to complete for the week on Monday mornings. The children will check off work after they have completed it. These learning logs are two sided, so they will be sent home to parents after two weeks. Please have conversations with your children about their goals and the progress they're making towards meeting them.

Dress Down Friday

Please send in at least $1 if your child chooses to dress down. The proceeds will go to support recovery efforts in the Bahamas.

September Birthday Celebration

We will be celebrating September birthdays on Friday. If your child has a birthday this month please send in a treat for 25 students. Also, your child is encouraged to share a personal timeline on the date of their birth.

Inside Montessori
Please join us this Thursday for a free screening of the documentary, Inside Montessori, with a paneled discussion to follow. September 12, 6-9 pm at Yamacraw Center for Performing Arts.

Field Trip
We have a field trip on Friday. Sunscreen and bug spray should be applied at home. More information to come via Remind, because we don't publish all info here as a safety precaution.

Lunch Application
All parents with students who are eligible for free/reduced lunch will need to go online by September 13 to complete a new application. Please use the following link:

Media Center Checkout
Students are checking books out of the Media Center on Thursday afternoons. Please make sure that your child brings their library books to school on that day, so they can return their books and borrow new ones with the rest of the class.
