Lower Elementary Art Show 

This week, we are so happy to bring back this Ellis tradition! Our Lower Elementary Art Show, The Beauty of Words, will be presented Thursday, April 4, from 6:00 to 7:30 pm. The gallery will feature collages, paintings, sewing, and paper mache projects which are inspired by children's literature.

Cosmic Education: 

A Celebration of Science

April 30, 2019 5:30–7:30

We will be celebrating science at Ellis with a Gallery Science Walk. Science experiments, investigations, inventions, and collections are encouraged and will be shared with friends and family. If your child chooses to participate, they can do one of the following things:

1. write up a description of their work and set it up before the Gallery Walk 
2. be a docent of his/her work and explain it to visitors passing by on the Gallery Walk

Our event is planned for April 30, from 5:30 until 7:30 p.m. If your child would like to speak about his/her work, they should plan to be there at 5:30 and stay “on duty” for at least an hour.

Please let us know if your child is interested and how she/he would like to participate.

The Week of March 24th

Welcome Back!
We hope that you enjoyed Spring Break! We are ready to get back to school and are looking forward to doing our best work in the final 8 weeks of the school year! 

Inner-Earth Wool Balls
Our students have been working on making inner-earth, wool balls with Ms. Marisa, and they are so excited to bring them home to share with you. When the wool balls come home, please use a sharp knife to cut the ball in half and have your child share what they've learned about the layers of Earth with you.

Friday-Birthday Celebration
We will be celebrating March birthdays on Friday. If your child has a March birthday please send in 25 healthy snacks with your student to share.

Field Trip
Although we have dress down for a dollar on Friday, our students will not be able to dress down for our field trip. Students may donate a dollar and change out of uniform when we return to school in the afternoon.


St. Patrick's Day Dance-$1
There will be a dance for Lower Elementary students on Thursday. All proceeds will go towards Relay for Life. 
St. Patrick’s Day items will be sold March 11th – 15th in the MPR from 7:25 – 7:50 and on Friday, March 15th after 11:05.

Homework
Please remember that last week's homework is due Monday and this week's homework is due on Friday.

The Week of March 3

Field Trip
We have a field trip Monday morning to a local organization which provides food to children in need. Students will be packing lunches for kids in our community who suffer from food insecurity. If your student has not yet turned in the permission slip, please make sure they do so on Monday morning.



Homework
Homework will be sent home Monday. It is due next Monday since there will be no school Friday.

Wednesday- Walk to School Day
Please join us for the 10th annual Georgia Walk to School Day. Ms. Patra will be greeting all walkers on Wednesday!

Thursday-Spring Picture Day
Free dressdown for all students.

Friday-No School
There will be no school Friday due to a teacher work day.
